What do we do?
Malaga is home to thousands of animal and plant species that live with us on our beaches and in our mountains; however, for several years now, this home has been exposed to various causes that have put it in danger.
Reforesta Málaga was born from the desire to see our land as it was, full of life.
We want to focus mainly on our mountains and mountain ranges, which are home to various animals and plants such as foxes, griffon vultures, chameleons, Spanish firs...
We have a wide range of activities, which are thought for companies and corporate groups to help us achieve our purpose and together promote the change and fulfil our dream.
To this day, we are lucky to have our own land to reforest, having an exact point to start with this beautiful task, however, the activities can be done anywhere in the Costa del Sol.
For many years, Málaga, has been affected by multiple forest fires due to diverse motives, with this initiative we want to get back what we lost once.
FEATURED ACTIVITIES
What impact does reforestation have?
The forest ecosystems are able to reduce the greenhouse effect, through two processes that are related to the carbon cycle.
Also, if we reforest today, we prevent a bigger disaster tomorrow, as reforestation strengthen the land and prevents landslides, avalanches and erosion. In areas where natural disasters frequently happen, forests are protection barriers, safeguarding lives.
During their growth, forests absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, turning it into carbon which they store in their leaves, roots and bodies. This process helps moderate climate change.
However, destroying a forest or its degradation, frees that carbon that has been kept for so long to the atmosphere and aggravates the climate change problem.
Trees produce oxygen, purify the air, form fertile soils, prevent erosion, keep rivers clean, capture water, provide shelter for wildlife, reduce soil temperature, regenerate nutrients, and enhance the landscape.
