The first big disaster happened in 1975, in Igualeja. The fire devoured more than 10.000 hectares between the municipality of Igualeja and Benahavis.

Nine years later, 8th september of 2021, an intended fire forest originated in two separate points, burned 8.401 hectares. It was almost impossible to extinguish for more than a month, until it was finally extinguished the 24th of October 2021.
